This guide lists Dhaka’s main cinema chains and stage-theatre venues and tells you where to find what is showing now. We do not copy showtimes here, because they change every week. Always confirm on the venue’s own page before you travel.
Cinemas
Star Cineplex
Star Cineplex’s official website lists nine branches. Six of them are in Dhaka:

The other three branches are outside Dhaka: Bali Arcade and Finlay Square in Chattogram, and Shimanto Tower in Narayanganj. The site shows the films now showing and coming soon, a full schedule and a ticket-buying link. Each film listing gives its content rating (such as U or A), format (2D or 3D), language and running time.
Blockbuster Cinemas
Blockbuster Cinemas is at Jamuna Future Park. Its official website has sections for Now Showing, Upcoming films, Schedule and Club Royale. The site lists these contacts for customer care: customercare@blockbusterbd.com, +88-02-9824007, +88-01913399015 and +88-01913398051, and shows 09613881100 in its header. When we checked, the film listings did not load on the site, so if you cannot see the schedule, contact the cinema.
Theatre
Dhaka’s stage theatre is performed by theatre groups (troupes) at a handful of venues. There is no single ticketing website, so what is on depends on each venue and each troupe.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy
The Academy is at Segunbagicha and runs three theatre halls. According to a Daily Star report of 21 December 2024, they were renamed:
- Kabi Alaol Natyalay, formerly the National Theatre Hall
- Selim Al Deen Natyalay, formerly the Experimental Theatre Hall
- Chandrabati Natyalay, formerly the Studio Theatre Hall
The Academy’s official website publishes hall allocations on its notice board. A preliminary allocation for November 2026 was posted on 19 October 2026.
Bangladesh Mohila Samity Auditorium
This long-running theatre hall is on Bailey Road, which is now officially called Natok Saroni. It has hosted theatre festivals and troupe productions, according to reports in The Daily Star.
Guide House Auditorium
Also on Natok Saroni, on the premises of the Girl Guides Association of Bangladesh. According to a Bangladesh.com article, it has hosted live theatre since the early 1980s.
Before you go
- Check the date, time and hall on the venue’s own website or the troupe’s announcement. Schedules change.
- Cinemas show a content rating on each film. Check it before you bring children.
- For ticket offers, rely on the cinema’s own site rather than third-party pages.
